Jan 11 Puntarenas, Costa Rica

We woke up in dock in Puntarenas, Costa Rica right next to the cruise ship we followed through the Panama Canal.

Today we are going to see the Andalusian Horse Show. Since our tour wasn't until the afternoon, we walked into town.
They have the name of the town in big letters on the beach.

I walked across this neat bridge made out of rocks.

I found this big thing in the tree. It wasn't a coconut but I am not sure what it was.

They have a train that can take people around town but it was too early in the morning so I didn't get to ride in it.

There was a neat restaurant that had their menu items named after Rock legends and a neat sign outside.

We stopped so Rob could get some coffee. I couldn't understand the menu (other than some things like Taco and Nachos) but Rob helped me with the few words. Pollo means Chicken, Huevo means egg.  They came out and made Rob's coffee at the table. They pour hot water over the coffee grounds in a fabric sack and the coffee comes out right in the cup.

I don't know why Rob smelled the coffee first but I did it too.

When we walked back to ship, I got to meet one of the local Police. He was very friendly.

With most people on tours, when we went to grab a late breakfast, we had half the buffet room to ourselves.

Rob played some trivia while we waited for our tour.

Toni and I checked out an area that they had a lot of old cruise line memorabilia.

They didn't want us forget what bus we were on so they put a sign on the bus and a sticker on each of the tour passengers.

Rancho San Miguel was the ranch where the horse show would be.

They had some neat things at this Ranch.

A 5 year old boy showed his horse with his dad

And then I got to meet him after the show

We even had a snack during the intermission.

I got to see the horses up close but only got to ride these.

We stopped at a gift shop/fruit stand. They had a lot of things. Costa Rica provides us with many of our fruits. Bananas being the biggest.

I was looking at a map to see where we had been and how we were going back to the ship.

After a long day, some good comfort for supper.

We pulled away from the port and headed back out to sea.

Tomorrow, at sea.
