Jan 12 At Sea off the coast of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador
Since the itinerary originally had a stop in Nicaragua today, we were heading up the coast at a slower speed than other days, only 13 knots (about 15 MPH). We would be going along the coasts of 4 countries today. We were still off the northern coast of Costa Rica when we woke up and would be going along the coasts of Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador.
Every night our Room Steward "I Made", that is who takes care of the room and everything that we need, leaves the Princess Patter in our room. And Toni gets her highlighter out and starts marking it up.
So about every Sea Day is 9am Speedy Sudoku for Rob (and usually a talk in the theatre) and Crafting for Toni and me. Today's craft was a windchime.
And while we have had pizza slices at the pizzeria on the pool deck, today we got made to order pizza at the Sabatini's Italian Restaurant. It is called Alfredo's Pizza. Most Princess ships have a whole Alfredo's Pizza Restaurant but the Island Princess is smaller because it was built to just fit through the Panama Canal. So on some sea days, they have it at Sabatini's (one of the fancy restaurants). We sat near the people making the pizzas and the ovens.
It was pretty lazy day as Rob played Sudoku on the balcony while I watched the birds that were flying near the ship. We were over 100 miles off shore and these birds had no where to land except for the water. We read that some can fly for a week without coming to land. Some scientists think that half of the brain can sleep while the other half keeps them flying. Wow.
Today was another formal night where everyone dresses up. Since I didn't bring many clothes, Toni made me a formal outfit. I was just like everyone else tonight!!
Toni was so excited since she has been wondering when there would be lobster tail on the menu. So as soon as I saw it, I told her it was her night.
For appetizers, Toni had French Onion soup and Rob had Prosciutto (Italian ham) and Ricotta (Italian Cheese that is usually in Lasagna)
For the main coarse they both got the Broiled Lobster Tail and Louisiana Style Crab Cake. I have relatives from Louisiana and that is where my Great-great Grandmother was from.
I said that a Sundae was in order for dessert. Well Rob had one and Toni had a Pineapple Flambe which was vanilla Gelato and pineapples.
Our head waiter, Apol from the Philippines, was dressed up just like me and we took a picture together. And then we took a picture of Toni and Rob.
They were dancing from the start to the end. I am not sure how they change their costumes that fast but they made me tired. I said I wanted to go back to the room and get to bed so we can do it again tomorrow.
This is how far we have gone since we woke up. From Costa Rica to off the coast of El Salvador.
