Learning about money in another country.

The currency (money) of Mexico is Pesos.

A dollar is about 19 Pesos and so a Peso is little more than 5 cents.

We think of $ as the dollar sign but according to wikipedia's dollar sign post "The dollar sign, also known as peso sign, is a symbol consisting of a capital "S" crossed with one or two vertical strokes ($ or ), used to indicate the unit of various currencies around the world, including most currencies denominated "peso" and "dollar". The explicitly double-barred  sign is called cifrão."

When you are walking around town, you it defiantly catches your attention.

This soda/pop machine had things from $20 to $10 but when you convert it the $20 is $1.07 in US and the $10 was 53 cents US. The $16 for a coke was 85 cents US.  Actually pretty cheap.

These apartments starting at $2,855,000 (almost 3 million) was actually a little over $150 thousand.  That is a big difference and why it is good to know when you are visiting any other country.

These are basically $10s and $5s in US.
