Jan 15 Sea Day off the coast of Mexico
We woke up this morning almost half way between Huatulco and Puerto Vallarta. Mexico City which was North East of us where the map says state of Mexico. We were going at 20 Knots seems to be our top cruising speed. Not sure Toni would be happy if I told to Captain to floor it!!
The map also shows we are going northwest at 293.64 degrees. Direction is measured from 0 to 360 degrees. If you think of it as a clock, North is 12 o'clock at 0 degrees, East is 3 o'clock at 90 degrees, South is at 6 o'clock at 180 degrees, West is at 9 o'clock at 270 degrees, and when you get to 360 you are back at 12 o'clock. So each hour on the clock is 30 degrees. So 270 (9 o'clock) plus 30 (another hour) is 300 degrees (10 o'clock). So since we are at 293.64 degrees which is not quite 300, we are pointing at just before the 10 on your clock!
After Rob taught me all that, I had to get some breakfast and go out on the balcony to look around at the morning sky.
Another day of activities
This bottle of water is in Spanish and says "no trae plástico nuevo al mundo" which means "does not bring new plastic to the world." Which we assume means it is made from recycled material.
Toni's craft was another paper folding craft.
It is a sombrero and maracas
Then we were off to Bingo. Toni also got a scratch off card that was tic tac toe.
And Toni got 3 X's in a row and won.
But her bingo cards weren't as lucky. No winners.
But I got to meet the Bingo host, "Fortuna Luck." She was dressed up like a ball player and had a saying for each ball she pulled. B-12, have you taken your vitamins (including B-12) today? and O-64 "will you still love me when I'm sixty four"
Then Toni took me to the Library. They have a lot of games we can play.
We went to the Ballroom Dance class to watch. Cole the Cruise Director taught it. I think I might have gotten stepped on if I went up on the floor, but the video showed how I would do what they were calling a Pretzel twist.
And I finally got to meet Cruise Director Cole.
He is a cross between RoadRunner and the Energizer Battery!!!
After lunch we had some ice cream. At dinner when it is time for dessert, we are always too full. We we decided to have dessert early today.
I was having fun and tried to slide down the banister but Rob stopped me before I could get hurt!
Today's was the Chef's Dinner and he had recommended pairings of appetizer, main course and dessert. Rob and Toni both got the recommended Vol-Au-Vent le Grand Chef for the appetizer. There were two recommended main courses, the Vegetable Tart and the Rack of Lamb. Toni got the tart and Rob the Lamb.
The vol-au-vent, which means windblown, is a French dish that can be served both as an appetizer (with savory fillings) or as a dessert if the fillings are sweet. So this was an appetizer with seafood.
The main courses were good but not Toni and Rob's favorites. They couldn't finish it all but I think the ice cream might have caused that!!
We went out on the deck to watch the sunset.
As we went back to our room, I finally got to meet our Room Steward I Made.
Toni windchime craft is also telling us how rough the seas are.
Tomorrow is Puerto Vallarta.
