Jan 22, At sea, Playoffs!

 


Well at least on the map, we can't see LA and we see Hawaii so we must be past halfway.  Still all day today and tomorrow at sea.  But by all of Toni's highlights, it will be a busy day.



Pretty skies and blue seas this morning.  The weather said it was going to be only 68 today and with almost 20 mph winds and us going about 24 mph, thought it was going to be chilly.


Every morning, there is an episode of "The Wake Show" where Cole the Cruise Director and other staff let us know about the days activities and a little about the ship.  Today Cole and his assistant Liberty told us about the day. Cole then gave us a behind the scenes tour of the kitchen area.

Went to the buffet for breakfast this morning but sat outside by the pool to eat.


It was then craft day. It was a lot of flowers.  Heard a lot about Flower Power but since I kind of missed the 60s by a half century or so, I didn't really understand it.  The craft ended up being different approach to making a Lei.

We snuck in to the Theater where Rob was listening to the talk on Kauai.



Toni wanted to make another Lei and I decided to help

Toni also was working on my outfit for formal nights.



Princess must have a new advertising approach with Princess, I love this! And today was the New Years day on the Chinese calendrer. It is the Year of the Rabbit!



And then it was gametime and the Cowboys were taking the field. But wasn't a good day for the Cowboys.


It was formal night and we were all dressed up


Toni even made me a Cowboys fancy jacket.


It was the Captain's Welcome Dinner for all of the new passengers.


First Course included a fruit salad and Gnocchi


Beef Tenderloin and Red Snapper for the Main Course


Also a Champaign  waterfall tonight.




And I got to meet Liberty tonight and we were both all dressed up.

Jan 27, At sea, day 2 out of Hawaii

Starting the 2nd day at sea out of Hawaii Breakfast Toni made a Flower at craft class.  I went with her. Rob went to the Gym for a stretching class. I'm already flat, not sure I wanted to be stretched out too! Rob was part of the Officers vs Passengers Jenga game. The Jenga game that Dad made for Rob and Toni must have helped as he helped the Passengers beat the Officers. Jenga is pretty hard on the ground but on a rocking ship is really hard. Sometimes we thought it was going to fall without anyone near it. I got to meet Toni's favorite Pizza guy. Toni and Rob played a game trying to get a ping pong ball in cups of water. Dinner time Fresh Asparagus and Coconut Shrimp for appetizers  Veal Scalapini and Chicken for dinner Another great sunset Elton John show in the theater tonight. Tomorrow there will be a line crossing ceremony. The line-crossing ceremony is an initiation rite that commemorates a person's first crossing of the Equator

Feb 25: Torres Strait halfway to Darwin

   We exited the Great Barrier Reef areas and passed through the Torres Strait between Australia and New Guinea on our way to Darwin  In the morning we still had the great colors in the water that we have seen as we past slowly through the Great Barrier Reef. As we moved through the morning, the Captain came on the loudspeakers to give an update on our travels and mentioned that we would see Hammond Rock as we were going through Torres Strait. So everyone was out on the decks to see this as most of us had never heard of it.   Hammond Rock So after we saw it, did a little search. Seems like from a maritime/mapping perspective Hammond Rock and Torres Strait are synonymous.
